Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi is in the news more for his “notebook celebration” than his bowling.

But when it came to Virat Kohli, Digvesh did something that surprised everyone.
Before the last league match of IPL 2025, when Lucknow and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were about to clash, fans asked Digvesh, “Who’s next? Virat Bhai?”
On this question, Digvesh shyly shook his head and indicated that he would not tick Kohli’s name in his notebook.
What notebook drama?
This “tick the notebook” celebration of Digvesh is nothing new. After taking a wicket, he takes out an imaginary notebook in the air or on the ground and pretends to cross out the batsman’s name.
Fans love this style, but BCCI finds it too “naughty”. Digvesh had to face fines many times due to this celebration and even got a ban of one match.
After dismissing Abhishek Sharma against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Digvesh’s notebook created a ruckus when a heated argument broke out between the two. BCCI considered it his third offense and suspended him with five demerit points.
But Digvesh’s reaction against Kohli was different. When fans took Kohli’s name, Digvesh just smiled and shook his head in refusal.
Maybe he knows that it will not be easy to do this “notebook drama” with Kohli. Kohli had earlier also replied to West Indies bowler Kesrick Williams in his own style in 2017, when he did a notebook celebration after dismissing Kohli.
Kohli later played a blistering innings of 94 runs and showed Williams his notebook.
Digvesh has been the shining star for LSG this season, taking 14 wickets in 12 matches. His Narayan-like pace and high-arm action troubled the batsmen a lot.
But now the question is, will he dare to take out his notebook against Kohli? LSG is already out of the playoffs, so this is his last chance to fool Kohli.
