The IPL 2025 final is just hours away, and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has made a statement that has left no stone unturned in creating a stir among cricket fans.

In the press conference before the final against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Ahmedabad, Patidar said something that has raised questions about Virat Kohli’s IPL career. Can this really be Kohli’s last IPL season?
Patidar said in the press conference,
“We want to win this final for Virat Kohli. He has shown amazing game for RCB and India for years.”
His saying “for Virat” started a discussion among fans and experts whether this is Kohli’s last IPL? Although Patidar did not say anything clearly, his words have made the final of June 3 even more emotional.
Kohli has been the heartbeat of RCB. Kohli, who has been associated with this franchise since 2008, has won the hearts of the fans with his batting and passion. But despite playing the final three times (2009, 2011, 2016), he could not win the trophy.
If this is his last season, then winning this trophy for RCB will be like giving Kohli the best farewell.
Patidar also told that the team’s focus is only on the final, not on the drama.
He said, “We just want to play our best cricket. I keep things simple.”
Apart from this, he also gave an update on the fitness of Australian all-rounder Tim David. David could not play the last few matches due to hamstring injury.
But Patidar said, “Doctors are checking him, it will be known by this evening whether he will be able to play in the final or not.”
Virat Kohli’s IPL record has been excellent, but the trophy drought has always been a matter of sorrow for him and RCB fans.
The defeat in the finals against Deccan Chargers in 2009, Chennai Super Kings in 2011 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 broke Kohli’s heart.
Now fans are hoping that if this is Kohli’s last season, then RCB will give him a memorable farewell by winning the trophy this time.
