The next season of the WPL is set to be a blockbuster in Mumbai and Baroda. The BCCI has selected Mumbai and Baroda for the fourth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

The tournament is expected to begin in January 2026, from January 7th to February 3rd, with the season expected to begin at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
This is the same ground where the Women’s World Cup final was held this month, and many Indian players consider it their favorite.
The BCCI has not yet issued an official notice to franchise owners, but informal discussions are underway.
The five teams will receive full venue details during the WPL auction in New Delhi on November 27th. Last time, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Baroda, and Mumbai were the hosts, but this time the focus will be on just two cities.
Baroda will play the second part, will the final be held here?
Now let’s talk about the second part of the tournament. According to the plan, Baroda’s Kotambi Stadium will be back in action around January 16th, including the final.
The reason is that the India-New Zealand men’s ODI is scheduled for January 11th in the same city, so the WPL will be shifted after that.
This scheduling seems smart, as there are plans to make January a permanent window for the WPL.
The WPL was last played in February-March, but now January has been fixed. First, the Men’s T20 World Cup begins in the first week of February, and will last for a month in India and Sri Lanka.
Second, global cricket boards have agreed that January is the best time for the WPL, so it doesn’t clash with other leagues or the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP).
The Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, having won the trophy last year by defeating the Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
They appear to be the favorites this time around, but competition will be tough with new teams and players. Fans will be eagerly awaiting which stars will shine.
Final confirmation on the venues for WPL 2026 will come soon, and this will provide a further boost to women’s cricket.
This move by the BCCI will not only please local fans but will also strengthen the league globally.
