But Boland worked really hard to get better again. He spent hours doing exercises and taking proper treatment. Now his knee feels completely fine and pain-free.
“Now I feel like I’m in a really good spot that I can bowl how I want to bowl. It’s pulling up really well, so that’s all I can do, and I just want to make their decision as hard as possible”, Boland explained.
The bowler feels ready to bowl fast again. He can run and jump without any discomfort now. This gives him the confidence to challenge for the team spot.
Competition with Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood creates tough competition for Boland’s place in the team. Hazlewood played really well in the recent IPL tournament and helped RCB to win its maiden IPL trophy. His bowling looked sharp and dangerous against top batsmen.
The selectors must choose between two quality fast bowlers. Both players bring different strengths to the Australian cricket team.
Boland knows Hazlewood bowls exceptionally well in big matches. But he believes he can also deliver when needed.
Boland won the Player of the Match award during Australia’s Test match against India in Sydney. He bowled brilliantly and helped his team win the game.
However, the selectors did not pick him for the Sri Lanka series. Australia chose more spin bowlers for those particular conditions. This decision disappointed Boland but he understood the team strategy.
