India’s packed cricket calendar keeps testing player fitness constantly this year. Several key names have repeatedly struggled to stay available lately. Here is a closer look at five affected players.

Indian Cricketers Who Have Faced Frequent Injuries
- Mayank Yadav
Mayank Yadav became an IPL 2024 sensation through his express pace consistently. He regularly bowled above 150 kmph, catching everyone’s attention immediately.
However, repeated injury issues have significantly interrupted his progress throughout recent seasons. He has played only ten matches across three IPL seasons overall.
Since his India debut, he has appeared in just six T20Is. He recently returned after surgery and a lengthy 21-month absence. His comeback came during India’s Zimbabwe T20I series earlier this year.
- Nitish Kumar Reddy
Nitish Kumar Reddy is viewed as an important fast-bowling all-rounder for India. He consistently impresses whenever selected, but injuries limit his appearances regularly.
Since debuting in 2024, he has played only 20 matches overall. He hadn’t featured in Tests or T20Is since 2025 until recently though. His most recent ODI appearance came in June 2026. He has now received clearance for the upcoming Afghanistan T20I series.
- Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya remains one of India’s most valuable white-ball all-rounders currently. Recurring injury concerns have consistently raised questions about his overall availability though.
He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence facility. He isn’t part of the current Afghanistan T20I squad selection though.
He has been named for the Australia A series, fitness permitting entirely. His recovery remains crucial for India’s 2027 ODI World Cup preparations.
- Jasprit Bumrah
The BCCI has adopted careful workload management for Bumrah, India’s premier bowler. Despite this cautious approach, he has still suffered occasional injury setbacks recently.
He played ODIs against England before suffering a troubling knee injury. He has remained out of action since that particular injury occurred. He’s expected back for the Afghanistan T20Is, though his fitness remains closely monitored.
- Harshit Rana
Harshit Rana has emerged as an important backup pace-bowling option recently. His progress has been repeatedly disrupted by recurring injury problems though.
Since debuting in 2024, he has played just 30 international matches. He missed the 2026 T20 World Cup and IPL due to injury. He returned during India’s UK tour before suffering another fresh injury.
This setback has now ruled him out of the Afghanistan T20I series.
