Ashwani made his first-class debut on 9 December 2019 for Punjab in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy against Rajasthan. His List-A debut came on December 8, 2021, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and his T20 debut came on October 30, 2022, against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He performed brilliantly for his team in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Trophy 2023, where he was one of the highest wicket-takers. His fast bowling and accurate line-length made him special.
