PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made a big statement about India’s role in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He said that if the BCCI has any concerns, they should speak directly to the PCB. He also urged the ICC to make a fair decision on the issue.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has caused disagreements between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The BCCI has said it won’t travel to Pakistan, citing safety concerns.
The BCCI has written to the ICC about this, but the PCB has firmly stated it does not want a Hybrid model for hosting the tournament. The PCB insists the entire event should take place in Pakistan.
Reports suggest that the tournament may happen in a Hybrid model, where matches involving India might be held in Dubai or Sri Lanka. However, no final decision has been made yet. The ICC is expected to announce the schedule soon but the venues might take longer to confirm.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the BCCI should communicate directly with the PCB if they have concerns. He also called on the ICC to maintain its credibility by making fair decisions about the Champions Trophy 2025.
Naqvi stressed that sports and politics should not mix and expressed hope that the BCCI will make positive decisions.
He said: “BCCI should talk directly with PCB in case of any reservations regarding the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. ICC must think about its credibility. PCB expects good from the decision of ICC in the matter of Champions Trophy. Sports should be kept away from politics, and I still expect good from BCCI on the matter of Champions Trophy.”
Naqvi also spoke about Pakistan’s preparations for the Champions Trophy. He said the world should witness the ongoing efforts and assured that stadium upgrades would be completed ahead of schedule.
