JSCA Confirms Ranchi Will Host a Match
India will host Australia for a five-match series during BGT 2027 soon. Recent reports suggested Ranchi could potentially lose its scheduled Test fixture.
However, JSCA confirms Ranchi Will Host a Match as originally planned. Secretary Saurabh Tiwary clarified there’s currently no change regarding this particular venue.
“There is no change in the venue. If anybody has to write to the BCCI about it, it should be me and I have not written it,” Tiwary said.
He explained any venue-change request would need his official communication first. Tiwary confirmed clearly that he hasn’t written any such letter recently.
Why Ranchi’s BGT 2027 Status Was Questioned
Earlier reports suggested head coach Gautam Gambhir wanted this fixture relocated elsewhere. The main concern involved Ranchi’s early winter sunsets during January and February.
This could potentially make completing 90 overs difficult within a single day. Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Rajkot had emerged as possible alternative venue options.
Despite these reports, Ranchi will host a match as originally planned. The fourth BGT Test remains scheduled in Ranchi from February 19 to 23.
