Bhuvneshwar Kumar breaks the silence on missing India’s T20I squads for Ireland and England basically. At 36 years, still motivated and focused. Gave an interview to the press and, discussing his omission, clearly said selectors do work.

He focuses on performances with a simple approach. If they deem him good they will select him. No desperation shown here. The veteran pacer is grateful to play for India.
Called himself lucky one to represent the country. Already achieved set goals and grateful rather than desperate for a return basically. Bhuvi’s last T20I was played for India in November 2022 versus New Zealand in Napier City. That’s quite a long gap.
“It’s my nature that I don’t want to show that I want to play. I think everyone is doing their job. Selectors are doing their job. I’m doing my job. It’s their responsibility to select. If they think I’m good enough, they will do their job,” Bhuvi said.
“I have played, I have done what I had to do. If I hadn’t played, I would have been dying to be asked to play a match. I think it’s a big thing to play for India, I won’t say it’s a small thing, I’m one of the lucky ones that I have played.”
Strong IPL Performance Shows Quality
Bhuvneshwar Kumar performed well in IPL 2026. Second-highest wicket-taker with 28 wickets total in 16 matches played. The average was 17.89 and the economy was 7.95.
He took 2/29 in the final match. IPL performance was excellent but selection is different. India’s tour of Ireland and England is a major event for the team clearly.
