A serious legal case involving a young IPL cricketer has taken a major turn. Police have now taken action following months of ongoing investigation. The player has consistently denied every allegation made against him. Here’s what has been reported about this developing case today.

Abishek Porel Arrested in a Rape Case
Bengal cricketer Abishek Porel has reportedly been arrested in West Bengal recently. Abishek Porel arrested in a rape case is the story making headlines today. Police confirmed the arrest took place near Emami City in Dum Dum.
The case against the cricketer was filed under multiple sections. According to NDTV Profit, Sections 64(1), 66, 69, 74, 75(2), 79, 115(2), 117(2), 124(1), 127(2), 109, 308(2), 351(2), 351(3), 316(2), 318(3), 61(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Sections 66E and 72 of the Information Technology Act were registered in the case.
The case connects to Mogra Police Station Case Number 346 of 2026. A medical student had earlier filed the original complaint against Porel. She alleged a relationship that soured after promises of marriage weren’t kept.
What the Legal Proceedings Involve
The case reportedly falls under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita currently. It also includes sections of the Information Technology Act, according to reports.
Calcutta High Court proceedings, led by Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, directed police to act firmly. The court also ordered authorities to seize electronic devices linked to Porel. This step aimed to secure data and prevent its wider circulation online.
A storage device had reportedly already been seized earlier in July. Porel has consistently denied all allegations, calling them completely false throughout this process.
Porel’s Journey with Delhi Capitals
Porel has been associated with Delhi Capitals since joining in the 2023 season. Across that period, he played 35 matches for the franchise. He scored 769 runs at an average of 25.62 during that entire stretch.
His strike rate stood at an impressive 145.36 across those innings played. In IPL 2026 alone, he recorded four half-centuries for the team. His earlier season saw fewer opportunities, with just four matches played overall.
What Happens Next in This Case
This remains an ongoing legal matter still under active court supervision. Reports of an arrest should not be read as a final conviction. The legal process will determine the outcome based on evidence presented fairly.
Porel’s cricketing future with the franchise may depend on this case’s resolution. For now, fans and followers await further updates as proceedings continue steadily.
