A serious legal matter involving a young IPL cricketer has now reached the courts. The case has been developing quietly over the past several weeks. Both sides have presented entirely different versions of the same story. Here’s what has actually been reported so far in this developing case.

High Court Orders Arrest and Evidence Seizure
The Calcutta High Court has directed police to continue their ongoing investigation actively. This involves detaining Delhi Capitals player Abishek Porel as part of the process.
Police have also been told to seize his personal electronic devices immediately. Officials say this move aims to carefully preserve important digital evidence. The court noted that devices allegedly containing obscene photographs should be seized.
This step is meant to protect the complainant’s dignity and privacy. The next hearing in this case has been scheduled for August 11.
The Allegations Against the Delhi Capitals Player in a Rape Case
The complaint was originally filed at Magra Police Station in the Hooghly district. The complainant alleges she and Porel were in a 3-year relationship together. She claims the relationship soured after Porel began distancing himself from her gradually.
She further alleges that intimacy occurred based on his stated promise of marriage. Porel currently faces non-bailable charges under FIR number 346 of 2026. The FIR reportedly includes sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act.
This Delhi Capitals player in a rape case has firmly denied every single allegation.
Porel’s Response and What Comes Next
Porel called the allegations false when the complaint first became public knowledge. He suggested the claims emerged after his recent improved cricket performances. He said he would comment further once police completed their investigation.
Police confirmed a complaint had been received and was under active review. If found guilty eventually, Porel’s cricket career could face serious consequences ahead. He has represented the Delhi Capitals and featured in IPL 2026 matches previously.
Fellow cricketer Yash Dayal faced similar allegations and was dropped from RCB’s squad. For now, this remains a legal matter still awaiting its next hearing.
