Mitchell Marsh called Abhishek Sharma the biggest threat to Australia ahead of the T20I series. The Australian captain praised India’s opener as one of the best players currently playing. Mitchell Marsh knows Sharma can unseat bowling attacks right from the first ball he faces.

Why Is Abhishek Sharma So Dangerous?
Abhishek Sharma became a T20 batting hit after his Asia Cup 2025 performances shocked everyone. He scored 314 runs at a strike rate of 200 during that tournament. The 24-year-old left-hander doesn’t believe in building innings slowly, choosing to attack from ball one.
Sharma scored 849 runs in just 24 T20I matches at an incredible 196.07 strike rate. His aggressive style puts bowlers under pressure immediately giving India flying starts in powerplay overs. Mitchell Marsh watched Sharma destroy Australian bowlers in the IPL knowing what was coming during the series.
“He obviously sets the tone for them. He’s been incredible for the Sunrisers (Hyderabad) over the last little period of time. He’ll provide us a good challenge… I think you want to be challenged against the best players in the world. We know he’s one of those,” Marsh said.
The IND vs AUS T20I series starts on October 29 in Canberra with five matches scheduled. Abhishek Sharma sets the tone for India’s batting lineup, making him the biggest threat to Mitchell Marsh. Australian bowlers must get him out early or face punishment throughout the powerplay overs.

Mitchell Marsh’s Assessment of the Series
Mitchell Marsh admitted that Sharma’s IPL record against Australian bowlers worries him going into matches. The Australian captain knows his bowlers face a huge challenge in stopping Sharma’s explosive batting style. IND vs AUS T20I matches will test Australia’s bowling plans against such fearless attacking cricket shown.
Marsh refused to discuss India’s World Cup 2026 preparations, staying focused on this series only. He believes Australia’s form looks good heading into the ICC T20 World Cup next year.
“I’m not really here to comment much on the Indian side of preparation for the World Cup, but I know that we’ve got eight games to go for us. And we’re really building nicely as a team in the way we want to play and go about it. So, yeah, we feel great at the moment. But we know that it’s going to be a big series against India,” he said.
The team wants to fine-tune their gameplay using these five IND vs AUS T20I matches properly.
