Stephen Fleming initially joined CSK as a player in cricket. Joined during the inaugural IPL season in 2008 under Dhoni’s leadership. CSK finished as runners-up in that inaugural IPL season championship match.
Fleming became head coach before the 2009 IPL season. Remained head coach throughout the most successful coaching era ever. Won five Indian Premier League titles under his coaching leadership. Two Champions League T20 titles added to an amazing cricket record.
Most decorated coach in the entire IPL cricket history overall. Qualified for the playoffs or knockout stages in 11 editions. CSK developed a reputation for stability and sustained excellence throughout.
“The Super Kings and Stephen Fleming have decided to mutually part ways, bringing to a close one of the most successful and enduring partnerships in the history of the Indian Premier League,” a franchise said.
“The decision was reached with respect and gratitude, following a series of open and honest discussions between Fleming and the Super Kings management.”

CSK won the IPL title in 2023 successfully under Fleming’s leadership. Two disappointing seasons followed after their 2023 championship win. The 2025 season saw CSK finish at the bottom of the IPL standings. For the first time in franchise cricket history, the team finished at the bottom.
