Lucknow Super Giants, also known as LSG, has yet to win a trophy in the IPL. The team entered the IPL in 2022 and reached the playoffs for two consecutive seasons.
But in the last two years, it has been eliminated before the playoffs. Now, the team is making big plans for the 2026 IPL.

Tom Moody to Get Big Responsibility
Recently, LSG appointed New Zealand’s Kane Williamson as its strategy advisor. Now, there is news that former Australian player Tom Moody may be appointed the team’s Global Cricket Director.
This has not been made official yet, but sources indicate an announcement is likely soon. Moody has extensive coaching experience and has previously coached Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.
If he joins, he will oversee the Manchester team not only in the IPL but also in other leagues like South Africa’s SA20 and England’s The Hundred. Player selection and team formation will all be under his supervision.
Moody’s Strong Record
Tom Moody is a prolific player in short-format cricket. He recently led the Oval Invisibles to three consecutive championships in The Hundred League and twice led the Desert Vipers to the finals of the International League T20.
LSG hopes Moody will fulfill their trophy dreams. Moody is expected to join the team before the IPL mega auction in December.
He will work with head coach Justin Langer and Williamson to plan for victory in 2026.
Last season, LSG acquired Rishabh Pant for ₹27 crore (approximately $270 million).
The team initially performed well but only won six matches and missed the playoffs. Now, there’s renewed enthusiasm with the new team.
