India has a packed schedule coming up basically. One Test match against Afghanistan first, from June 6 to 10. Then comes the ODI series which is crucial. Three matches total against Afghanistan are coming soon.

First ODI on June 13th at Dharamsala. HPCA Stadium is the venue apparently. The second ODI is on June 17th in Lucknow. The third match on June 20th in Chennai. MA Chidambaram Stadium hosts the final match.
Kohli was supposed to play obviously. He hadn’t played ODIs recently honestly. The last ODI series was in January basically. Against New Zealand that was. He scored a century and a fifty.
Great form going into this Afghanistan series. Fans were really excited about his comeback. But then bad news came out. Virat Kohli misses the Afghanistan ODIs. A hamstring injury is the reason.
How Did Kohli Get This Injury
The IPL 2026 final happened recently. RCB played the Gujarat Titans in that match. Kohli scored an unbeaten 75 and helped RCB win the championship. But during that match something happened.
His hamstring got injured while batting. The problem was serious unfortunately. Now he’s been ruled out completely.
In IPL 2026 Kohli was absolutely brilliant. 675 runs total with the average of 56 which is amazing. One century and five fifties combined. RCB’s leading run scorer that season. He was in red-hot form.
The championship win proved his quality. But that injury ruined everything basically.
The hamstring issue is really bad. Kohli won’t be fit for ODIs. Missing the Afghanistan series is huge. He was set for a comeback match. Now he has to sit out.
That’s a major setback for India. His form has been so good lately. Losing him weakens the batting lineup. Afghanistan will feel relieved without him.
India’s Squad Takes Another Hit
Rohit Sharma is also in trouble. The ex-captain got a hamstring injury too. During IPL he missed several matches. He hasn’t done a fitness test yet at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. So Rohit is doubtful for the series. Two key players might miss the ODIs.
This puts India in a tough spot. Kohli and Rohit are both injured basically. The opening batting gets weakened badly. Afghanistan will see this as an opportunity.
Without these two batters, India looks different. Younger players will get chances maybe. Inexperienced guys stepping up against Afghanistan. That’s risky for the India team.
The medical team is working hard. Getting both players fit is a priority. But the ODI series is coming quickly. June 13 is not far away. Kohli might miss all three matches.
Rohit’s situation is also uncertain basically. India will have to manage without them. The next few days are crucial for recovery.
