A major announcement was made today at the BCCI’s annual meeting in Mumbai. Former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas has been elected the board’s new president.

Manhas filed his nomination and assumed the position without any opposition. Union Minister Jitendra Singh expressed his happiness by posting on Instagram.
He wrote, “Mithun Manhas has officially become the President of BCCI.”
Who is Mithun Manhas, the new President of BCCI?
Manhas’s appointment is special because he is the first cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to reach this top post. The 45-year-old Manhas has a long history in domestic cricket.
From 1997 to 2017, he played 157 first-class matches for Delhi, scoring 9,714 runs. He also has 130 List A and 91 T20 matches to his name.
He has played for the Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors, and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Most recently, he served as the administrator of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
Historic day for Jammu & Kashmir
Jitendra Singh mentioned the district’s joy in his post.
He said, “Mithun Manhas has officially become the President of BCCI. What a lucky Sunday for one of the remotest districts of J&K, Doda, which happens to be my own home district too.”
Singh also mentioned that just a few hours ago, Sheetal Devi of Kishtwar won the Para Archery World Championship.
Sheetal defeated the number one player in South Korea. This double joy thrilled the entire district.
More changes were also made within the BCCI. Rajiv Shukla will remain the Vice President. Devjit Saikia was appointed Secretary, while Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will be Joint Secretary.
Raghuram Bhat of Karnataka was elected Treasurer.
Rajiv Shukla said, “A new body is being formed for the next term. Mithun Manhas is a former player, and it was decided to make him President.”
What will be the focus of the new committee?
Under Manhas’ leadership, the BCCI will now focus more on players, particularly young cricketers. The emphasis will be on improving domestic tournaments and strengthening India’s international standing.
Manhas said, “I will do my best for Indian cricket and the BCCI in whatever way I can.” This new leadership will give cricket a new direction.
