Injuries have absolutely devastated several IPL teams this season already unfortunately. Some franchises are struggling badly after losing key players permanently. Let’s look at every player who won’t return this tournament.

The CSK Double Blow – Two Major Losses
Khaleel Ahmed – Quadriceps Injury
Chennai Super Kings lost their primary left-arm pacer during the KKR match. Khaleel Ahmed went down on April 14 with a serious quadriceps problem. He’d taken just 2 wickets across 5 games before getting injured.
His economy rate of 8.67 wasn’t spectacular but CSK desperately needed him. The injury happened while bowling, forcing him off the field immediately. Medical scans revealed the damage meant no IPL return this year.
Ayush Mhatre – Hamstring Tear
This one really hurts CSK’s batting lineup the most honestly. Ayush Mhatre was their best batter with 201 runs including two fifties. He tore his hamstring against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.
Doctors confirmed recovery needs 6-12 weeks minimum, ending his season completely. CSK loses their top run-scorer right when they needed him desperately. That’s two crucial players gone from their squad permanently now.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Injury Nightmare
Brydon Carse – Hand Injury
Carse never even played a single match for SRH this season. He injured his hand batting in practice nets before the tournament opener. The English pacer’s IPL debut got postponed indefinitely after that freak accident.
Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka came in as his replacement quickly. Sometimes injuries happen at the worst possible timing for players.
David Payne – Ankle Injury
David Payne joined SRH replacing another injured player Jack Edwards initially. He managed just 2 matches, grabbing 2 wickets at 14.0 economy. Then his ankle gave out, requiring him to leave immediately.
Gerald Coetzee stepped in as Payne’s replacement for the remainder. SRH keeps cycling through overseas pacers because injuries won’t stop them from hitting.
Gujarat Titans’ Quiet Loss
Tom Banton – Finger Injury
Tom Banton’s IPL stint ended before it even started properly this year. The English wicketkeeper-batter sustained a finger injury during preparations. He didn’t feature in any GT matches at all unfortunately.
South African Connor Esterhuizen replaced him in the squad quickly enough. GT managed fine without Banton, but losing players always hurts depth.
Five players ruled out completely show how brutal this IPL season’s been. Teams are scrambling for quality replacements mid-tournament constantly now.
