Delhi Capitals fans have been eagerly waiting for some big news. A major announcement finally arrived about the franchise’s future plans. Here’s everything that got revealed about their upcoming season plans.
Why Delhi Capitals Needed a Coaching Reset
Delhi Capitals remain one of the few teams without an IPL title. They reached their only final back in 2020 but lost to Mumbai Indians. The franchise has missed the playoffs since the 2022 season.
Last year, DC finished 6th after winning just 7 matches. They also traded for Rishabh Pant from Lucknow Super Giants recently. These struggles clearly pushed the team toward a fresh coaching direction.
Sourav Ganguly Leads the New Delhi Capitals Coaching Staff
Sourav Ganguly has been named the new Delhi Capitals coaching staff leader. He takes charge as head coach for the very first time in the IPL. Ganguly previously worked with the franchise as a mentor.
He also brings valuable SA20 coaching experience from recent seasons. Ganguly replaces Hemang Badani, who held the role last season. This marks an exciting new chapter for Delhi’s cricket setup.
Who Else Joins the DC IPL Coaching Staff
Yuvraj Singh joins the DC IPL coaching staff as batting coach. This marks his very first official coaching role in the IPL. He has already mentored stars like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.
Chaminda Vaas comes in as the franchise’s new bowling coach. The former Sri Lankan pacer brings valuable international coaching experience. Amit Mishra will handle spin bowling duties for the team.
