A famous name from Indian cricket has taken on a brand new job. Fans of the franchise have plenty to talk about today. Delhi Capitals have named Yuvraj Singh as batting coach for IPL 2027. The team made the official announcement on October 13, 2026.
Yuvraj is a former India all-rounder with plenty of international experience. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly will lead the coaching setup for the season. Yuvraj will work alongside Ganguly and the rest of the support staff.
The coaching group combines the experience of two former India stars.
A Return To The Franchise
Yuvraj has played for the franchise before, so this feels like a homecoming. This move brings him back to the team in a coaching capacity. Chairman and co-owner Parth Jindal welcomed him warmly to the new role.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Yuvi to the Delhi Capitals family. Yuvi is one of Indian cricket’s greatest match-winners and someone who has played a pivotal role in mentoring many of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket today. His experience, winning mindset, and ability to connect with players will be invaluable to our squad,” Jindal said.
Jindal praised his match-winning ability and his strong winning mentality. He also praised his experience and his skill at connecting with players. His appointment is also expected to strengthen the franchise’s coaching setup.
Experience With Young Batters
Yuvraj has mentored young Indian cricketers in the past few years. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill are two of the players he has helped. That work shows why Yuvraj Singh as batting coach makes sense for this squad.
Delhi Capitals hope his batting knowledge will help their young players develop. His international experience should also give the whole team extra confidence.
Yuvraj said he felt excited to begin a new chapter with the team. He spoke about his long relationship with the franchise and its owners. He called the opportunity a very special one for his career.
“I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life with the Delhi Capitals. I have an old association with the franchise and know the owners well, which makes this a special opportunity for me,” Yuvi said.
“I’m also looking forward to teaming up with Dada, this time as coaches. Coaching is something I am truly passionate about, and I cannot wait to get started with this extremely talented squad. I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting journey for me, and I look forward to contributing to the team’s success,” he added.
Hopes For IPL 2027
The franchise hopes Yuvraj’s batting skills will improve the development of its players. It also wants stronger overall performance in IPL 2027 for the whole squad. Fans will watch how Yuvraj Singh as batting coach shapes a unit.
The new coaching group will begin its work ahead of the new season. The team believes his international experience and mentoring skills will help players grow.
