Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has made a big plan for IPL 2026. MS Dhoni himself is reshaping the team.
He wants an all-rounder who can excel with both bat and ball. And his target is Washington Sundar.

What is Dhoni’s master plan?
The retention date is coming on November 15th. Dhoni wants a tall off-spinner in the team who can remain calm under pressure. Washington Sundar fits the bill perfectly.
He is calm, bowls smartly, and also scores runs with the bat.
Reports say that Dhoni has given CSK the green light to acquire Washington Sundar for the IPL 2026 Team. Sundar has played 66 matches in the IPL, scoring 511 runs and taking 39 wickets.
For India, 110+ wickets in 100 matches is the norm. This is what CSK needs, a Hardik Pandya-style player, with Washington Sundar fitting the bill.
Who could replace Sundar?
CSK aren’t stuck on just one name. If Washington Sundar IPL 2026 Team deal doesn’t go through, they’re eyeing Cameron Green.
Green has been a sensation on Indian pitches. RCB may not be able to retain him. Many teams are keen to snap him up.
And a surprise name is Mitchell Owen. This Australian boy bowls fast and swings the bat in the middle order. He has played 14 international matches.
Last year, he played just one match for Punjab, but CSK may give him a chance in IPL 2026.
Washington Sundar is currently with Gujarat Titans. Last season, he played 6 matches, took 2 wickets, and scored 133 runs. But if he joins CSK, he will wreak havoc at Chepauk alongside Dhoni.
