Fans around the cricketing world finally got the news they wanted. One date on the calendar now has everyone talking already, and with good reason too.
The Big Announcement
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 schedule was revealed in Cape Town on October 1. This World Cup 2027 schedule released marked exactly one year before the tournament.
South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will jointly host this massive 14-team event. Cricket boards worked together for months to finalize this ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 schedule.
India and Pakistan both secured direct qualification for next year’s tournament. South Africa and Zimbabwe also qualified automatically as official host nations.
The remaining spots were decided using ODI rankings from September 30, 2026.
IND vs PAK World Cup 2027 Date Released
The biggest headline fixture remains the group-stage IND vs PAK clash. These rivals will meet on the field on October 10, 2027. India and Pakistan have produced thrilling fixtures in 2015, 2019, and 2023.
Under this new format, IND vs PAK could even clash again later. That rematch depends on both teams reaching the Super 7 stage.
A Fresh New Tournament Format
This World Cup uses a different format compared to earlier editions. The three lowest-ranked teams will first play a mini Super Series. Each team in that series plays the other two sides once.
The Super Series winner then joins the main 12-team group stage. These 12 teams split into two separate groups of six teams. Every team plays five matches during this opening group stage.
The top three teams from each group advance further in the event. The best fourth-placed team across both groups also earns a spot. The top four teams from that stage reach the semi-finals.
Venues And The Final Showdown
Twelve venues across three countries will host matches during this tournament. South Africa alone will stage matches at eight different venues.
Zimbabwe will host games at three separate venues this time. Namibia will contribute one venue to this massive global event. The exciting final will take place on November 21, 2027.
This complete ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 schedule gives fans plenty to look forward to. The World Cup 2027 schedule released this week has settled months of speculation.
