ICC Will Reveal Cricket World Cup 2027 Fixtures Soon
The ICC and Cricket South Africa are reportedly planning a major announcement. ICC will reveal Cricket World Cup 2027 fixtures on October 1, 2026. This announcement is expected during a dedicated event in Cape Town.
Times of India journalist Gaurav Gupta shared this timeline in recent reports. The announcement comes almost exactly one year before the tournament begins. No official confirmation had been released at the time of publication though.
Tournament Format and Hosting Details
The 2027 World Cup will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia together. The tournament window extends from October through November 21, 2027 tentatively.
Australia enters as defending champions after defeating India in the 2023 final. This edition features fourteen teams, compared with just ten previously.
Cricket World Cup 2027 fixtures will therefore cover a significantly larger tournament structure overall.
Which Teams Have Already Qualified
India, Australia, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan have qualified already. South Africa and Zimbabwe qualified automatically as co-hosts of this tournament.
Namibia still needs to progress through the qualification process. Ten teams should be confirmed by the September 30 qualification cutoff date. The remaining four places will be decided through a separate qualifier tournament.
How the Qualifier Tournament Will Work
The qualifier round is expected to involve ten competing teams overall. West Indies, a two-time champion, will compete within this qualifier stage. Teams ranked 9th and 10th as of September 30 will participate.
Other participants come from the top four in World Cup League 2. Additional teams will join from the top four of the qualifier playoff. The top four teams from this qualifier will earn main World Cup places.
The final match schedule, venues and groups remain unannounced until this reveal.
