The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is about to start today. It’s a massive event for all the cricket lovers. First will be played between England and Sri Lanka. But before the tournament begins, let’s find out all the winners to date.

Australia dominated in the Women’s T20 World Cup with 6 titles. The most successful team from 9 editions. Started in 2009, England hosted the first tournament with 8 teams participating there. Expanded to 10 teams after the 3rd edition was held. Australia’s winning streak is impressive throughout history. Multiple titles showing dominance and quality.
Australia won multiple consecutive titles. Consistency and class, 2010 first win under Alex Blackwell, captain led by beating New Zealand by 3 runs. Ellyse Perry starred in the final match. In 2012, Jodie Fields was the captain and beat England by 4 runs in the final. Julie Hunter took 11 wickets total. Tournament performance is amazing.
In 2014, Australia won 3rd consecutive title. Meg Lanning was the captain who started the winning streak and defeated England in the final. Lanning scored 257 runs, the most in the tournament. Dominance continued through the 2018 title when they beat England by 8 wickets in the final. Ashleigh Gardner took 3/22 there.
Other Winners Breaking the Streak
West Indies broke Australia’s streak in 2016. Stafanie Taylor, the captain and beat Australia in the final. It’s a historic moment for the West Indies to win their first title. Taylor scored 246 runs with 8 wickets. Hayley Matthews scored 66 runs off 45 balls in the final. Great performance shown.
England won the first edition in 2009. Charlotte Edwards led the hosts to beat New Zealand by 6 wickets. Claire Taylor won the player of the tournament award. Remarkable achievement hosting and winning the same tournament was great.
New Zealand won in 2024 finally breaking the drought of titles. Amelia Kerr took 15 wickets total and won the Player of the tournament award. Her performance was outstanding bowling-wise.

In 2023, Australia won undefeated. They beat South Africa by 19 runs in the final. Beth Mooney 74 not out, her final innings strong. Ashleigh Gardner won Player of the tournament.
In 2024, New Zealand won and defended 158 runs against South Africa. The tournament was relocated to the United Arab Emirates. Women’s T20 World Cup is being competitive and Exciting every edition.
