The fifth Test match between India and England to be held at the Oval has now become even more exciting, England’s star captain Ben Stokes is out of this match due to injury.
The biceps tendon injury in his shoulder has given a big blow to the team. But England did not give up and made four big changes in their playing XI.
Stokes out, Pope becomes captain
In the absence of Ben Stokes, England has handed over the captaincy to Ollie Pope. Pope has previously captained four times in Tests, and now he has a chance to make his mark against India at the Oval.
Stokes said in the press conference, “I always play to win, but injury is a part of the game. I can’t do anything even if I want to.”

England’s new playing XI
England has given a chance to four new faces in their team. Jacob Bethell, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton and Josh Tongue have been included in the playing XI.
These changes have been made to give new vigor to England’s bowling and batting. Fast bowlers Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse and spinner Liam Dawson are out this time.
The fast bowling of Gus Atkinson and Jamie Overton will now be England’s main weapon.
In batting, Jack Crowley and Ben Duckett will open, while Ollie Pope will bat at number three and Joe Root at number four. Harry Brook will be at number five, and Jacob Bethell will be the new face at number six.
The responsibility of wicketkeeping is on the shoulders of Jamie Smith, while Chris Woakes will play the role of all-rounder.
