The India Women’s team will participate in a 10-day skills camp at the NCA in Bengaluru as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE next month. Head coach Amol Muzumdar will lead the camp which is set to begin on Tuesday, September 10.
A complete squad, along with reserves, will gather in Bengaluru on Monday, featuring wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia and allrounder Shreyanka Patil, both of whom were conditionally named in the 15-member World Cup squad pending fitness clearances from the NCA.
Sources at Cricbuzz reveal that both Bhatia (knee injury) and Patil (finger fracture) successfully passed their respective fitness tests this week and have obtained the necessary NOCs to join the camp.
Bhatia endured a grade 1 tear of the PCL in her left knee during the first match of a five-T20I series in Bangladesh back in March and has been stationed at the NCA since. Patil, on the other hand, suffered a fracture to her left hand during India’s Asia Cup 2024 opener against Pakistan in July.
As part of their World Cup preparation, the team plans to engage in a few intra-squad matches, both of which are anticipated to be held under lights. The 2020 World Cup runners-up are set to play three of their four Group A matches under lights, with the exception of their clash against Pakistan on October 7 in Dubai.
Following the camp’s conclusion the players will return home for a brief, four-day break before regrouping in Mumbai for their departure to the UAE, scheduled for September 24.
