Ravindra Jadeja’s Return and Changes from Afghanistan Test Squad
Ravindra Jadeja returns to strengthen India’s all-round department. His return is a major change from the previous squad. Jadeja missed the Afghanistan Test series due to injury. His inclusion adds depth to India’s batting and bowling.
Jasprit Bumrah is included subject to fitness clearance. Players omitted from the previous squad include Nitish Kumar Reddy. Washington Sundar is unavailable for the first Test.

Squad Selection Highlights and Notable Omissions
Saransh Jain was rewarded for sustained domestic success. He had impressive India A performances in recent tours. Bumrah’s selection is conditional on recovering full fitness. The selectors retained an experienced pace attack featuring bowlers.
Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Gurnoor Brar are included. Dhruv Jurel has provided additional batting. Devdutt Padikkal continues as the reserve batting option. Manav Suthar was also selected for the squad.
Auqib Nabi was overlooked despite an outstanding season. The selectors preferred experienced fast bowlers over him. Sarfaraz Khan also missed selection and Sai Sudharsan retained his place in the squad.
Test Schedule and Squad Preparation for SL vs IND
India will play a four-day practice match in Colombo. The practice match begins on August 7. The first Test will be at Galle starting on August 15 and ending on August 19.
The second Test will be at SSC Colombo. The test begins on August 23 and ends on August 27 during the SL vs IND Tests. The squad preparation includes the practice match.
Shubman Gill’s team will have adequate preparation time. The squad is ready for challenging Test cricket. SL vs IND Tests begin soon with full preparation.
