Ajinkya Rahane’s brilliant performance on IPL 2025 opening day

In the first match of IPL, Kolkata captain Ajinkya Rahane played a stormy innings of 56 runs in just 31 balls and put the team in a strong position.

Rahane hit 6 fours and 4 sixes in his innings, taking his strike rate to 180.65. After the initial setback, along with Sunil Narayan, he took charge of the team and took the scoreboard forward rapidly.

Rahane performed his captaincy responsibilities well before getting caught out by Rashikh Dar off Krunal Pandya’s ball in the 10.3 over of KKR’s innings. Thanks to his innings, KKR scored 174 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.

RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first in the match. After Quinton de Kock was out early, Rahane and Narayan together shared a 100-run partnership. Narayan also gave a good support by scoring 44 runs in 26 balls.

RCB Bowlers Fight Back, But KKR Holds Firm

Krunal Pandya bowled the best for RCB and took 3 wickets for 29 runs. Josh Hazlewood also took 2 wickets for 22 runs.

This is KKR’s first match under Rahane’s captaincy and he has proved with his batting that the team has an experienced and reliable leader.

Now it remains to be seen whether KKR’s bowlers will be able to stop RCB’s batsmen or Virat’s team will achieve this target easily.
