    IPL 2025: PBKS beat KKR by 16 runs amid Chahal’s spin and Rana’s sharp bowling!

    In the 31st match of IPL 2025 played at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 16 runs.

    Punjab batted first and scored 111 runs in 15.3 overs, in response to which Kolkata could score only 95 runs in 15 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal’s brilliant spin (4/28) played an important role in Punjab’s victory.

    First innings: Punjab Kings score 111/10 (15.3 overs)

    Punjab Kings got off to a good start, with Prabhsimran Singh (30) and Priyansh Arya (22) scoring quick runs. However, skipper Shreyas Iyer (0) and Josh Inglis (2) were dismissed early. Glenn Maxwell (7) and Naman Wadhera (10) also failed to score much in the middle overs.

    Shashank Singh (18) and Xavier Bartlett (11) added some runs in the end, but Kolkata’s bowling bundled out Punjab for 111.

    Harshit Rana (3/25) was the most successful for Kolkata, while Sunil Narine (2/14) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/21) also bowled well.

    • Sunil Narine – 3 overs, 14 runs, 2 wickets
    • Varun Chakravarthy – 4 overs, 21 runs, 2 wickets
    • Vaibhav Arora – 2.3 overs, 26 runs, 1 wicket
    • Anrich Nortje – 3 overs, 23 runs, 1 wicket

    2nd innings: Kolkata Knight Riders 95/9 (15 Overs)

    Chasing a target of 112 runs, Kolkata got off to a bad start. Quinton de Kock (2) and Sunil Narine (5) returned to the pavilion in the first two overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (37) and captain Ajinkya Rahane (17) shared a 55-run partnership for the third wicket, but Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed both of them to put Kolkata under pressure.

    Venkatesh Iyer (7) and Rinku Singh (2) also got out cheaply. Andre Russell (17*) played some big shots in the end, but it was not enough.

    Yuzvendra Chahal (4/28) performed brilliantly for Punjab, while Marco Jansen (2/17) and Glenn Maxwell (1/5) also made important contributions.

    • Angkrish Raghuvanshi – 37 runs (28 balls, 5 fours, 1 six)
    • Andre Russell – 17* runs (10 balls, 1 four, 2 sixes)

    • Marco Johnson – 3 overs, 17 runs, 2 wickets
    • Xavier Bartlett – 3 overs, 30 runs, 1 wicket
    • Arshdeep Singh – 3 overs, 11 runs, 1 wicket
    • Glenn Maxwell – 2 overs, 5 runs, 1 wicket

    Defining moment of the match:

    The decisive moment of the match came in the 7th over of the second innings, when Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Ajinkya Rahane (17) was dismissed LBW, reducing Kolkata to 62/3.

    After this, Chahal broke the back of Kolkata by dismissing Angkrish Raghuvanshi (37) in the 9th over.

    In the 11th over, Chahal dismissed Rinku Singh (2) and Ramandeep Singh (0) on consecutive balls to reduce the score to 76/7. Kolkata’s batting could not recover after this, and Punjab won a thrilling victory by 16 runs in the 15th over.
