Lucknow Super Giants have retained the talented pacer Mayank Yadav for a hefty INR 11 crore. Despite the fact that the player spent more time in rehab than on the field – LSG management is convinced he can be a game-changer when fully fit.
Although Mayank faced a rough injury history—missing the entire 2022 season and encountering setbacks in 2023 due to a torn hamstring—he made an incredible return in IPL 2024.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) place big trust in injury-prone Mayank Yadav with INR 11 crore retention In just four matches, Mayank impressed with his intense pace, regularly clocking over 150 kph in IPL 2024, though an injury later cut his season short.

LSG co-owner Shashwat Goenka on Mayank Yadav
Commenting on the retention, LSG co-owner Shashwat Goenka emphasized that keeping Mayank Yadav was based on his undeniable contributions during his limited time in the high-stakes T20 league.
LSG co-owner Shashwat Goenka told the Times of India: “The way you look at it, when a player is playing a match, is he able to contribute to a win? I think Mayank fits that bill perfectly. He played in four games last season and picked up seven wickets. That itself shows the potential of the individual.”
Goenka expressed confidence that Mayank will only improve as he overcomes his injury struggles likening his path to that of other bowlers who faced similar early-career obstacles and later became world-class players.
Goenka is unfazed by the pressure that Yadav and his young teammates may face. He’s confident in their resilience and ability to handle high-pressure situations keeping LSG competitive in the IPL.
The Lucknow franchise is investing in Yadav’s raw talent and potential making sure he remains a key part of their team going forward. Alongside Mayank, LSG also retained Nicholas Pooran, Mohsin Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, and Ayush Badoni ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
