In Match No. 33 of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a one-sided victory by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by 103 runs.

Played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, this contest saw CSK bat first and post a formidable total of 207/6 in 20 overs; in response, the MI team crumbled for a mere 104 runs.
The hero of the match was Sanju Samson, who played a magnificent innings, remaining unbeaten on 101 runs.
His innings featured 10 fours and 6 sixes, and he played a pivotal role in propelling the team to a commanding total.
CSK’s Batting Creates a Sensation
CSK got off to a decent start, but it was Sanju Samson who truly stole the show. He adopted an aggressive approach right from the outset, putting the Mumbai bowlers under immense pressure.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also contributed a brisk 22 runs, while Dewald Brevis and Jamie Overton added quick runs to help the team cross the 200-run mark.
For Mumbai, Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar and Ashwani Kumar did manage to claim two wickets each, but the rest of the bowling attack proved to be quite expensive.
Jasprit Bumrah also picked up a solitary wicket but failed to provide the team with any significant breakthroughs.
MI’s Batting: A Complete Flop
Chasing a massive target of 207 runs, Mumbai Indians endured a disastrous start. The team lost wickets in quick succession during the opening overs and never found an opportunity to stage a comeback in the match.
Batsmen such as Quinton de Kock, Naman Dhir, and Danish Malware were dismissed early on.
While Suryakumar Yadav (36 runs) and Tilak Varma (37 runs) made a valiant effort, the remaining batsmen failed to hold their ground. Captain Hardik Pandya was also dismissed after scoring just 1 run.
In the bowling department, CSK’s Akeal Hosein delivered a stellar performance, claiming 4 wickets and effectively breaking the back of the Mumbai lineup.
He was well supported by Noor Ahmad, who took 2 wickets, while the rest of the bowlers maintained consistent pressure throughout the innings.
With this victory, CSK has further strengthened its position in the tournament, while Mumbai Indians will have to rework their strategy following this crushing defeat.
