In the 70th match of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals put up a magnificent performance to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 40 runs.
Played at Eden Gardens, the match saw DC bat first and post a total of 203 runs; in response, the KKR team was bowled out for 163 runs.
For Delhi, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the biggest heroes of the match.
KL Rahul and Axar Patel Anchor Delhi’s Innings
Delhi got off to a brisk start, although Abhishek Porel was dismissed early. Following his departure, KL Rahul played a blistering innings, scoring 60 runs off just 30 balls.
His innings featured 5 fours and 4 sixes. Sahil Parekh also provided excellent support, contributing 24 runs.
Captain Axar Patel accelerated the scoring during the middle overs, smashing 39 runs off 25 balls. In the final stages, David Miller scored 28 runs off 19 balls, helping the team cross the 200-run mark.
For KKR, Saurabh Dubey was the most successful bowler, claiming 2 wickets, while the rest of the bowling attack proved to be quite expensive.
Kuldeep Yadav and Ngidi Break KKR’s Back
Chasing a target of 204 runs, KKR got off to a decent start. Finn Allen and Ajinkya Rahane scored runs at a rapid pace.
Rahane played a captain’s knock, scoring 63 runs off 39 balls, but wickets kept tumbling consistently at the other end.
Although Manish Pandey scored 25 runs and Rovman Powell contributed 29, the team was unable to overcome the pressure of chasing such a massive target.
Kuldeep Yadav delivered a brilliant bowling performance, claiming 3 crucial wickets. By dismissing Rahane, Cameron Green, and Rinku Singh, he completely swung the match in Delhi’s favor.
Lungi Ngidi also claimed three wickets, preventing KKR’s lower order from finding their footing.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc took two wickets in the final overs, making the victory all the more comfortable.
The entire KKR team was bundled out for 163 runs in 18.4 overs, and Delhi clinched their final league match of the season in magnificent fashion.
