Match No. 46 of IPL 2026 witnessed a thrilling contest at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, where the Gujarat Titans defeated the Punjab Kings by 4 wickets.

Batting first, Punjab posted a total of 163 runs, a target that Gujarat successfully chased down in 19.5 overs.
PBKS’s Innings: Poor Start, Middle Order Steadies the Ship
The Punjab Kings got off to an abysmal start, losing two wickets for a mere 2 runs on the board.
Subsequently, Captain Shreyas Iyer failed to last long at the crease and was dismissed after scoring 19 runs.
The team appeared to be under constant pressure, and by the time they reached the 50-run mark, half the side had already returned to the pavilion.
However, Suryansh Shedge breathed new life into the match with a blistering innings of 57 runs off just 29 balls. Supporting him, Marcus Stoinis contributed 40 runs, while Marco Jansen added a quickfire 20 runs towards the end to propel the team’s total to 163.

GT’s Run Chase: A Measured Approach, A Victorious Finish
Setting out to chase the target, the Gujarat Titans did not have a particularly strong start either, as Captain Shubman Gill was dismissed early on.
However, Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a crucial knock of 57 runs, steadying the team’s ship. He was well supported by Jos Buttler, who contributed 26 runs.
Although the middle order experienced a brief wobble, Washington Sundar turned the tide in his team’s favor with a blistering innings of 40 runs off just 23 balls.
With only a few runs required in the final overs, the team comfortably reached the target to seal the victory.
Match Decided in the Final Over; GT Shows Its Mettle
Gujarat won the match by scoring 167 runs in 19.5 overs. While the Punjab bowlers certainly put up a fight, they failed to secure key wickets at critical moments.
Arshdeep Singh and Vijaykumar claimed 2 wickets each, but the remaining bowlers proved to be expensive.
With this victory, Gujarat Titans have consolidated their position on the points table, and the team’s confidence has also received a boost.
Punjab Kings have suffered a major setback due to this defeat, especially their batting has again come under question.
