Owner Sanjiv Goenka announced this appointment, highlighting Williamson’s leadership qualities thoroughly. His cricketing brain will help LSG after two disappointing seasons. The franchise badly needs fresh thinking to turn things around.
Why the Advisory Role Makes Sense
Williamson’s playing days in IPL hit roadblocks due to persistent injuries. He lasted only two matches in IPL 2024, scoring just 27 runs. Unfortunately, there was no franchise bid for him during the 2025 auction.
