In Match 30 of IPL 2026, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 99 runs in a one-sided contest.
Played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, MI batted first to post a formidable total of 199/5, before bowling GT out for a mere 100 runs. MI maintained complete control over the match from start to finish.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bowl first; however, the decision ultimately backfired on them.
Tilak Varma Shines with a Century
The standout performer of MI’s innings was N. Tilak Varma, who played a magnificent unbeaten knock of 101 runs off just 45 balls.
His innings featured 8 fours and 7 sixes, played at an impressive strike rate of 224.44.
MI suffered early setbacks in their innings, as Quinton de Kock, Danish Malewar, and Suryakumar Yadav were dismissed quickly.
However, Naman Dhir played a crucial innings of 45 runs, while Captain Hardik Pandya contributed 15 runs.
MI finished with a final score of 199/5, which proved to be a formidable total.
In the bowling department, Kagiso Rabada claimed 3 wickets for GT, though the rest of their bowlers proved to be quite expensive.
Gujarat Titans’ batting effort was a complete failure. Shubman Gill managed to score only 14 runs, and the team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.
Washington Sundar scored 26 runs, but no player was able to forge a substantial partnership.
Bowling Dominance Secures Big Win
For MI, Ashwani Kumar emerged as the bowling hero, dismantling the GT batting lineup by taking 4 wickets.
Mitchell Santner also claimed 2 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah provided an early breakthrough.
The entire GT team was bowled out for just 100 runs in 16 overs. Star players such as Rashid Khan, Buttler, and Gill were all dismissed early and returned to the pavilion quickly.
