Bad news keeps piling up for one toiling team this season. They’re already out of a playoff clash after a bad campaign. Now injuries have struck their squad cruelly at the worst possible time.

The franchise released an official notice on May 19, 2026. Two key players won’t feature in their remaining matches at all. Both suffered separate injury issues during recent games unfortunately.

Only two league matches remain for them to finish this forgettable season. But they’ll complete those games without some important squad members now.

    The Double Injury Blow

Two stars ruled out of the tournament hit the Mumbai Indians hard. Quinton de Kock sustained a tendon injury in his left wrist recently. The injury happened just before their home match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Raj Angad Bawa suffered a ligament tear in his right thumb. That injury occurred during their last match against the Punjab Kings. The young all-rounder’s season ends prematurely because of this injury.

Mumbai Indians confirmed both players will miss the remaining IPL 2026 fixtures. Two stars ruled out means losing an experienced international batter and a developing all-rounder. The medical team assessed both injuries before making this decision officially.

    Rehabilitation Plans

De Kock and Bawa will continue rehabilitation from their respective homes. The Mumbai Indians medical team will guide their recovery process remotely. The franchise stated they’ll provide complete support during this period.

Both players need time to heal these injuries properly before returning. Rushing back could cause more serious damage long-term obviously. The team wishes them a speedy recovery despite this unfortunate timing.

Replacements will be announced following IPL guidelines soon enough. But their impact seems limited with just two matches left. The franchise might use these games to test bench strength instead.

    Season Ending Matches

Mumbai Indians play the Kolkata Knight Riders away at Eden Gardens first. That match happens on May 20, 2026 in Kolkata. Then the Rajasthan Royals visit them at home on May 24 finally.

Playoff hopes disappeared weeks ago for this five-time champion. The season has been disappointing from start to finish. Losing de Kock and Bawa adds more misery to an already terrible campaign.

The remaining matches become opportunities for fringe players to get game time. Management can gather insights for rebuilding ahead of next season!
