Andy Flower’s Heated Exchange
The incident involving RCB coach Andy Flower happened during the 18th over. Specifically at the 17.2 mark, Flower spoke aggressively with the fourth umpire. This conversation took place outside the playing area away from the cameras.
But the microphones unfortunately caught everything Flower said during that exchange. The former Zimbabwe batter used foul language that clearly violated IPL rules. His words got picked up on the broadcast audio system.
BCCI ruled this a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct immediately. Article 2.3 covers “use of an audible obscenity during a match” specifically. Match referee Amit Sharma handled the case after reviewing the evidence.
Fine and Admission
Andy Flower admitted to the offense without contesting it at all. He accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee straightaway. The official IPL statement confirmed Flower’s fine of 15% match fee.
“Andy spoke aggressively with the fourth umpire,” the statement read officially. Flower’s admission and acceptance made the process quick and simple.
