IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fans are a little disappointed. The team finished eighth in IPL 2025, winning just five matches. They were crowned champions in 2024, but this time everything has gone awry.
Shreyas Iyer was released, then over 23 crore rupees were spent on Venkatesh Iyer, but the team’s balance remained unbalanced.

Other fringe players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wicketkeeper), Moeen Ali, Manish Pandey, Rovman Powell, Mayank Markande, Umran Malik, and Chetan Sakariya may also be left out.
These releases will provide KKR with a substantial budget to strengthen weak departments. Fans believe this is a smart move, as they avoid repeating past mistakes.
