A Special Milestone In New Chandigarh
KL Rahul enters elite 10000-run club during the 3rd ODI against West Indies. This moment came with a six off Matthew Forde. That massive hit came during the 33rd over of the innings.
Rahul became only the 15th Indian player to touch this amazing milestone. Globally, he became just the 98th cricketer in history to reach this number.
Rahul entered this 3rd ODI against West Indies already in fine touch. In his previous six matches against them, he scored one century. He also added two fifties and two solid 40+ scores.
With this hot form, Rahul brought up another century today quickly. He scored 129 off 87 balls at the crease today.
KL Rahul Enters Elite 10000-Run Club with Different Batting Position
This milestone also highlights Rahul’s amazing versatility across different batting positions. He has batted at number five and six positions in ODI cricket. In Test matches, he often opens the innings for his beloved country.
At number five in ODIs, his average stands at an impressive 65.3. That impressive number places him just behind legendary batter AB de Villiers.
India had already won the series after two convincing victories earlier in the week. This dead-rubber match still mattered a lot for individual milestones and team depth.
Captain Shubman Gill got out early, scoring just 1 run. Virat Kohli also departed cheaply, out for a golden duck. Rohit Sharma steadied things nicely with a brilliant knock of 92 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad then added 137 valuable runs alongside Rohit Sharma. Gaikwad contributed 57 runs during that crucial partnership for his team.
Squad Changes And A Series Win
India made several smart changes to their squad for this final match. Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy both returned to the eleven. Anshul Kamboj also made his exciting ODI debut in this game.
Shubman Gill secured his second ODI series win as India’s captain. KL Rahul enters elite 10000-run club as this memorable series concludes happily.
