Nehal Wadhera started with local cricket in Ludhiana and later took professional training. He played for Punjab’s Under-16 and Under-19 teams in the Vijay Merchant Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy from 2015 to 2018.

Domestic Cricket Career
Nehal played for Punjab Under-16 and Under-19 teams in the Vijay Merchant Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy from 2015 to 2018. He scored 529 runs in the 2017–18 season. He debuted for India Under-19 against Sri Lanka Under-19 on 17 July 2018 and scored 82 runs. In August 2018 he was selected in India’s squad for the 2018 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup.
In April 2022 he scored 578 runs in the semi-finals of the Inter-District Under-23 Championship, which is more than Brian Lara’s record of 501* runs in four-day cricket. He became the fastest player to reach 200, 300, 400 and 500 runs and was honoured by the Junior Chamber International.
In December 2020, he was named in Punjab’s squad for the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (joining date). In January 2023, he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy against Gujarat and scored 123 to help Punjab win by 380 runs.
On 18 January 2023, he scored a double century of 214 against Madhya Pradesh and was named Player of the Match. In his debut first-class season, he scored 376 runs in 7 innings. In June 2023, he was selected in North Zone’s squad for the 2023 Duleep Trophy.

IPL Career
Nehal Wadhera’s entry in IPL happened in December 2022, when Mumbai Indians bought him for a price of Rs 20 lakh. His first IPL match was against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 2 April 2023, in which he scored 21 runs off 13 balls.
On 6 May 2023, he scored his first IPL half-century of 64 runs against Chennai Super Kings. In the 2023 season, he scored 241 runs in 14 innings. He was part of the Mumbai Indians IPL team in 2023 and 2024.
However, in the IPL 2025 auction, Punjab Kings bought him for a huge price of Rs 4.20 crore. His new IPL team is Punjab Kings. He is the third player from Ludhiana to get an IPL call-up.
