His campaign in Major League Cricket has ended earlier than expected. He suffered a right knee injury during a recent match. The setback occurred after he had bowled just two overs. Medical assessment eventually forced him to withdraw from the tournament.
This confirms the star spinner will sit out the rest of the season. Australian veteran Peter Siddle has been named as his replacement. Siddle will now take over Ashwin’s remaining duties this season. It’s a tough break for someone who looked settled early.
