Indian cricket is in turmoil. Former player Mohammad Kaif has launched a scathing attack on the selectors.
He says Ajit Agarwal and his team are desperate to oust Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Kaif claims the selectors are waiting for these two greats to fail.
These allegations have surfaced after the Australia series, where Rohit and Virat made impressive comebacks.

Kaif spoke openly on his YouTube channel. He said,
“In the back of their minds, they know that people are waiting for them to fail. There are selectors and some media people. Now they are also determined to eliminate Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Look at their faces, they appeared focused but calm.”
Kaif believes that Rohit and Virat are aware that some people are eager to exploit their mistakes. But both are determined. They appear calm, but there is a fire burning inside.
Kaif further said, “They have that extra determination. They will be determined to go on their terms in this format and not give anyone a chance to remove them from the team.”
Rohit and Virat’s explosive comeback
Both teams surprised everyone on the Australia tour. Rohit scored the most runs in the series. He scored 73 runs in Adelaide, where the pitch was difficult. Despite the early dismissals of Shubman Gill and Virat, Rohit held the team together.
Then he scored a century in Sydney. Overall, Rohit averaged 101. His strike rate was slightly lower, but his calmness impressed everyone.
He shared partnerships of 118 runs with Shreyas and 168 runs with Virat. This partnership equaled the Sachin-Ganguly record.
Virat was also excellent. Together, they showed that they are ready for the 2027 World Cup. Now, the South Africa and New Zealand series remain, followed by the IPL and the England tour. There are a lot of matches in white-ball cricket.
Conspiracy by the selectors or pressure?
Kaif clearly stated that Rohit and Virat are essential on bouncy pitches like South Africa.
He added, “In South Africa, it is a must to have Rohit and Virat in the squad because of the experience they bring. You need Rohit Sharma on South Africa’s bouncy track. Same with Virat. He plays well on fast, bouncy strips.
Rohit Sharma has shown that age is just a number. You only fix things when they’re broken. People support Rohit and Virat because they know they haven’t done anything wrong.”
Kaif says that age doesn’t matter. Both have done nothing wrong, so fans will support them. This pressure will also be on the selectors.
Rohit has the highest average of 57.7 in ODIs against Australia. Virat also proved that he is fit now.
