Sunrisers Hyderabad dropped a major squad update on their social media. The franchise announced changes to their playing roster mid-season surprisingly. Injuries always create unexpected situations during long IPL campaigns like this one.

SRH sits comfortably in third position on the points table currently. They’ve won six matches while losing 3 from 9 games played. The team just chased down 244 runs against Mumbai Indians incredibly!
That MI chase happened in only 18.4 overs showing SRH’s batting firepower. Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen beat the bowling. Pat Cummins’s return to the squad boosts their pace attack.
Shivam Mavi Ruled Out with Injury
Bad news hit the SRH camp regarding one of their pacers. Shivam Mavi ruled out of IPL 2026 completely due to a groin injury. The franchise bought him for Rs 75 lakh at the auction.
Unfortunately, Shivam Mavi ruled out means he never played a single match. He sat on the bench for all 9 games before the injury. Now the groin problem ends his entire IPL 2026 season.
The timing couldn’t be worse with the playoffs approaching fast for teams. Shivam Mavi ruled out the possibility of forces SRH to find a replacement immediately. Team management acted quickly to fill the vacant overseas spot.
RS Ambrish Joins as Replacement
SRH named RS Ambrish as their new squad member replacing Mavi. The uncapped right-arm medium pacer went unsold at the mini-auction earlier. His base price of Rs 30 lakh didn’t attract any bids.
But Ambrish got this IPL 2026 chance through strong U19 performances recently. He represented India Under-19 in the ODI World Cup this year. The young all-rounder grabbed 11 wickets during that contest!
That tally made him the joint-highest wicket-taker for India U19. His left-handed batting adds useful lower-order depth too. SRH clearly identified the talent they wanted to develop within their system.
Upcoming Match Against KKR
SRH faces KKR next on Sunday, May 3. The match happens at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Home luck should help SRH continue their strong IPL 2026 campaign.
