The Cricket Association of Bengal denied all corruption allegations made publicly. Avishek Dalmiya accused Sourav Ganguly of governance failures yesterday. CAB issued a three-page official letter to the Sports Minister.

Dr Indranil Khan received a response defending the current administration clearly. Sourav Ganguly signed the letter along with the office bearers. Secretary Bablu Kolay also put his signature on the official response. They questioned why Dalmiya raised issues publicly instead of internally.
Proper channels exist for addressing concerns within the organization. Allegations included a lack of transparency and systemic rot claims. CAB firmly rejected all these corruption allegations made publicly. Their statement defended the administrative framework and processes being followed.
Internal integrity mechanisms exist but Dalmiya bypassed them clearly. CAB highlighted Sourav Ganguly’s unblemished record throughout his career. He served as India’s captain with great honor. Then became CAB president later on in career. Also served as BCCI president for the organization. Chaired the ICC Cricket Committee in its international role there.
No prior allegations against his integrity have ever been made. This track record shows his character is strong. How can anyone accuse him of corruption now? Public allegations seem surprising given his clean record.
Established Systems and Legal Framework in Place
The Ombudsman and Ethics Officer system was established by the Supreme Court. Lodha reforms mandated these mechanisms for proper governance. High Court Chief Justice Jyotirmay Bhattacharya is hearing the matter. Complaints handled with full legal sanctity and transparency.
Office bearers cannot interfere with the investigation process there. Impartiality was maintained throughout the entire process of the hearing. Internal mechanisms exist for addressing grievances properly officially.
Dalmiya was fully aware of these proper systems. He served as secretary and president till 2022. Never complained about irregularities during his own tenure.
Why raise issues publicly now after leaving the organization? Seems like an attempt to damage reputation publicly. CAB questions his sudden concerns after stepping down.
Context and Timing of Allegations
Presidents served the CAB over the last three decades successfully. B.N. Dutt oversaw the association without public corruption allegations. Jagmohan Dalmiya also managed the organization without such claims. Sourav Ganguly and Avishek Dalmiya both led the organization. None of them faced public allegations like now.
Making current claims surprising and quite ironic truly. No past president issued such public communication ever. This came as a great surprise to the association. Allegations came days before the September Annual General Meeting.
Seems like timing is suspicious before the major vote. CAB describes it as an attempt to publicize issues. Rather than resolving them through proper internal channels. The portrayal that discrepancies existed outside Dalmiya’s tenure is wrong.
