A former India star was asked a simple question at a recent event. His answer left many fans guessing about his plans.
Suresh Raina’s Reply On The CSK Batting Coach Role
Suresh Raina refused to say whether he wants the CSK Batting Coach Role. A reporter asked about it at the ISCL Season 2 jersey launch. Raina said he did not want to comment on that. His reply keeps his possible link with the franchise uncertain.
Michael Hussey has left the batting coach position at Chennai Super Kings. Zaheer Khan has taken charge as the new head coach of the team. Mohit Sharma has also joined the coaching staff as bowling coach.
Raina is a former CSK star, so fans discuss him as a candidate. However, no appointment has been confirmed in the report so far. Many fans now watch the vacant batting coach job closely.
Raina Backs Mohammed Shami
Raina wants to see Mohammed Shami return to the Indian team. He praised Shami’s consistent performances, fitness, and strength over the years. His comments came as Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned to international cricket.
That raised hopes that experienced fast bowlers can help India again. Many fans share his wish to see experienced bowlers back in action.
Suresh Raina called the Indian Softball Cricket League a cheerful initiative. He said it gives young cricketers chances and creates jobs for coaches. He called tennis-ball cricket a cheap entry point for new players.
He recalled playing it before he knew if he would play for Uttar Pradesh or India. He believes such leagues help grassroots cricket grow and give players more chances.
Raina’s World Cup Hopes
Suresh Raina believes India can win the 2027 ODI World Cup. He sees Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as key strengths. He pointed to India’s World Cup wins in 1983 and 2011. Kohli has scored 15,109 ODI runs, including 55 centuries, in his career.
In 2026, he scored 552 runs in 9 innings at an average of 69. He scored 168 runs against West Indies, including an unbeaten 139. Rohit has scored 12,120 ODI runs and 35 centuries in 291 matches.
Rohit scored 225 runs in that series, including one century. Raina feels their strong form gives India a very good chance.
