The all-rounder, Lalit Yadav expressed his determination to excel in the inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 while keeping an eye on the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. Yadav emphasized that the Delhi Premier League is an essential stage for young talents to display their abilities ahead of the auction.
Currently, at the helm of the Purani Delhi 6 in Rishabh Pant’s absence, Lalit has faced hurdles as the team experienced consecutive losses in their first two matches. Nevertheless, they celebrated their first victory of the season on Wednesday, securing a 7-wicket win against Hrithik Shokeen’s West Delhi Lions.
First Win in DPL 2024
“It’s a great feeling. First win is always special. We have been waiting for this. It will give us confidence going forward, so will change the atmosphere in the dressing room. Finally, something on the points table,” Lalit told CricketNext.
Lalit Yadav expressed his joy on their first triumph during a media interaction. He noted that this win has provided a significant boost to their confidence and morale. He also acknowledged the valuable insights from Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma.
He added, “The side is a mix of youth and experienced guys. Rishabh has shared his insights with us when was here, so did Ishant Bhaiya. It made the newcomers feel confident and it was pretty evident in today’s result. So, we need to keep trying those things going forward,”
Since 2020, Lalit has enjoyed steadfast support from the Delhi Capitals, who picked him in the IPL auction that year and retained him for the 2022 tournament. However, the dynamics of player retention could change in the upcoming mega auction.
