His youth cricket record is absolutely exceptional, with 1412 runs in 25 ODI matches. Average of 56.48, that’s world-class performance basically. 4 centuries and 7 fifties in youth cricket.
Highest run scorer format, better than Vijay Zol, who had 1404 runs in 36 matches. Vaibhav’s numbers are better at a much younger age in the ICC U19 World Cup. This showed his character well. Started with a low score of 2 runs against the USA, but adjusted his approach.

The ODI Format Challenge and Competition

Path to ODI Selection
Vaibhav needs to show runs in senior matches. India A has good matches as the Group stage play is coming. Possibly the final match too. He has more chances to score heavily. That’s what India wants before giving ODI call.
Success in T20I tours helps build confidence level. But ODI selection needs domestic and A team performances strongly. Youth records are good, but senior cricket demands different skill sets honestly.
