Team India’s squad list just received a fresh little update today. A key player stepped away for an important personal reason. Here’s exactly what changed and who comes in instead now.

Washington Sundar Replaced Ahead of Big Test Season
Washington Sundar replaced in India’s T20I squad against West Indies. The BCCI made this call along with the team management. Sundar will instead return to play Ranji Trophy cricket soon.
That domestic season begins on October 11 across the country. This move helps him prepare properly for the upcoming Test series. India will face New Zealand in Tests later this year.
India’s New All-rounder for West Indies T20Is
Naman Dhir has been named the new all-rounder for West Indies T20Is. He recently had a small injury scare during the second ODI. Dhir twisted his ankle while bowling in that Guwahati match.
He left the field after completing just 6.1 overs that day. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak later clarified it was only cramps. Dhir remains fully fit and available for the T20I series.
Updated India’s T20 Squad for West Indies Series:
Shreyas Iyer (C), Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Tilak Varma (vc), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav, Naman Dhir
How the ODI Series Already Went for India
India had already wrapped up a commanding 2-0 series lead. In the first ODI, India chased down 295 comfortably with wickets to spare. Shubman Gill scored a brilliant 110 runs in that chase.
Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on an incredible 139 runs that day. Kuldeep Yadav also picked up four wickets in that same match.
During the 2nd ODI, Gill scored 223* while chasing a record 406-run target. Rohit Sharma also scored a century. These results made the squad rotation an easier decision overall.
More Squad Changes for the Final ODI
Prasidh Krishna has also been ruled out of the third ODI. He suffered a left hamstring injury during the second match. Anshul Kamboj has been added as his direct replacement now. That final ODI will be played in Chandigarh very soon.
Washington Sundar replaced for T20Is marks just one of several changes. India clearly wants fresh legs heading into this busy cricket season.
