Old bitter memories have been revived in the world of cricket. Former Indian player Robin Uthappa has lashed out at Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke.

The reason is that…these two shared the video of 2008 IPL in which Harbhajan Singh was seen slapping S Sreesanth after the match.
This was the infamous ‘slapgate’ scandal due to which Harbhajan was banned for 11 matches. But now years later this clip is going viral, and Uthappa did not like it at all.
Uthappa was on the field at that time. He spoke openly with Jarrod Kimber on the ‘Kim-appa Show’.
He said, “The whole slapgate thing that happened in IPL. What the f*** man? How do you get away with something like that?”
He did not stop here. Uthappa further said,
“Now, imagine we put out a clip of some objectionable thing that an Australian has done, which was hidden away, to protect the honor of that situation, to protect the honor of the people involved, an impulsive, wrong decision taken by a human being… now that you’ve interviewed someone, and you’ve got the file, do you think you have the right to publish it, put it out in the world and make those two people go through that whole emotion, that raw. emotion 20 years later?”
Uthappa questioned the lack of sensitivity and talked about racial double standards in cricket.
He asked, “Where’s your sensitivity and empathy towards others?”
And further said, “We all make mistakes, but do we keep exposing them so that people have to go through the embarrassment of wrong decisions they’ve taken? For me, people who are not brown-skinned mostly get away with it. Today, we’re talking about Sunny G’s take on what other countries say about Indian cricket. But what about this? Imagine the human implications of this… you can’t treat people badly just because it’ll get you more views.”
Harbhajan and Sreesanth have moved on from this feud years ago. Both are seen together in commentary and events.
Harbhajan has expressed regret many times, and Sreesanth has openly talked about their relationship in interviews.
But this action of Modi and Clarke has brought back old issues. Uthappa also pointed out that if something like this had happened to the Australian players, it would have been hidden, so that the reputation could be saved.
