The Indian women’s cricket team surprised everyone by winning the Women’s World Cup 2025. After losing in the group stage, it seemed like the dream would be shattered, but a powerful meeting with head coach Amol Muzumdar changed everything.
Harmanpreet Kaur herself said that that night gave the team new life.

Muzumdar Sir’s explosive speech
The tournament had started well. We defeated Sri Lanka and Pakistan, but then suffered consecutive defeats against South Africa, Australia, and England.
A ticket to the semi-finals seemed difficult. The team was dejected after losing the England match. Harmanpreet said, “We were about to win the match, but suddenly collapsed. Similar mistakes had been made before.”
Amol Muzumdar Sir called a meeting. He clearly said,
“You can’t make the same mistakes again and again. You have to cross that line.”
Harmanpreet said, “That night changed a lot for us. It had an impact on everyone.”
The team decided not to repeat past mistakes. Everyone thought with determination, “Okay, let’s move on.” No complaints, just stay positive.
The Path to Victory and the Team’s Strength
After that meeting, the team made a comeback. Defeated New Zealand in a quarterfinal-like match. Then, they shockingly defeated Australia in the semifinals.
Won the final against South Africa by 52 runs. Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma performed brilliantly.
Harmanpreet said, “The last month has been very interesting. It’s very rare that things don’t go according to your plan, and yet you stay so positive. We were really looking for this cup — that was something special in our group.
Not a single player said, ‘What will we do now?’ Everybody just thought, ‘It’s okay.’ After losing the England match, we were really heartbroken. We were about to win that match, but we collapsed. We had seen this in the That day, (Amol Muzumdar) also said, ‘You have to cross that line.’
Harmanpreet said after the win, “We have been talking about this for many years – we’ve been playing good cricket, but we had to win one big tournament. (But) without that, we couldn’t talk about change.” “At the end of the day, fans and the audience want to see their favorite team win.
It’s not that we weren’t playing good cricket, but we were waiting badly for this moment, and today we got a chance to live it. I don’t know how to express it, but I’m so happy and so proud of this team. I’m just trying to express what I’m feeling. I am numb. I am not able to understand. He (a journalist) asked two questions; I answered only one.”
This victory is a milestone for Indian women’s cricket. Now the team will reach new heights, and the wait of the fans is over.
