There seems to be no end to the heated debate over the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between Pakistan and India.
Tensions between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have escalated to such an extent that it seems that both do not want to meet each other.
The Pakistan Cricket Board officials are adamant that the tournament should be held only in their country. They believe that they will organize this important tournament on their own ground and will not let the tournament go to any other country under any circumstances.
On the other hand, the Indian cricket board has made it clear that they will not send their team to Pakistan. The Indian government has suspended the visit due to security concerns. He believes that the current conditions in Pakistan are not safe for the players.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi believes that Jai Shah should think only about the interests of the ICC
The ongoing unrest in Pakistan has posed a major challenge to international cricket. Recently, the Sri Lanka A team also abandoned their tour midway, which is an indication that the security situation in the country is alarming.
Mohsin Naqvi has clearly said that he will take the best decision for Pakistan cricket. He believes he has to work in the interest of his country’s cricket.
Apart from this, Jay Shah’s name is the most discussed among the new challenge. He is set to become the new ICC chairman in December. The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has made an interesting comment about him.
“(Jay Shah) will take over in December and I am sure when he goes from BCCI to ICC, he will think about the benefit of ICC and that is what he should do. Whenever one assumes such a role, one should think only about the interests of the organisation.”
How can this debate end?
There are many options before the ICC now. First, they can consider a hybrid model in which matches can be played in multiple countries. Secondly, they can hold the tournament in a neutral country. Thirdly, they can also postpone the tournament completely.
Although, The final decision will be taken at the ICC’s crucial meeting on November 29. All eyes are on this meeting.
